The important features of the department are as follows: Globalization: The department strives to study the societal and economical contexts, as well as the educational systems, of many more or less advanced countries, such as the United States , the United Kingdom , Germany , France , Spain , Japan , Canada , New Zealand , Australia , and Russia . In other words, the teaching and research of the department centers around global educational affairs of both developed and developing countries.
Diversity: Foreign Language Learning: Besides English, the undergraduate students of the department are required to study second foreign languages like Spanish, German, French and Japanese. Foreign Fieldtrips: In order to broaden the students' vision, we not only periodically invite internationally and domestically renowned scholars specializing in comparative education to deliver lectures, we also encourage students to go to other countries, such as Australia and the United Kingdom , for short-term exploratory trips. Because of this, the department has already managed to establish academic links with some well-known institutions of higher-education abroad, a prominent example being the Institute of Education , University of London .
Continuity ¡G The department offers comparative education courses at three levels, namely: the undergraduate, Master's, and doctoral levels. Thus, it has tried to cultivate a continuity of academic training from the basic to the highest levels.
The Information Center for International and Comparative Education ¡G Funded by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan , the Center was established as a major data bank of international and comparative education studies some year ago.
