The curric ula of the department are divided into two major categories: basic and field curricula. Basic Curricula A basic curriculum centers on the theories and methodologies of comparative education. It aims at strengthening students' recognition and understanding of the basic theoretical foundations, research methods, and issues which have to be addressed in comparative education. Field Curricula The field curriculum in each case is divided into two subsections: thematic study and area study, and thus attempts to strike a balance between theory and practice, with the expectation that the students will be able to fully understand the trends of educational development around the world, and also engage in independent in-depth studies of specific comparative issues.
